The Labor Department says quarterly average wages were up by 1.7 percent over the last quarter, but how much per week does the average American worker make now? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average weekly wages of all workers covered by state and federal unemployment insurance (UI) programs was $739 in the fourth quarter of 2002, an increase of 1.7 percent from the same quarter in 2001."
